A World Famous Cowboy, Wolf Creek's Family Connection...

Harry Vold wasn't simply just a cowboy, Harry was a famous, well respected cowboy and a major influencer in his time. He was renowned internationally as "The Duke Of The Chutes", a name and a role that he wore very well.

A Ponoka, Alberta area legend, Harry purchased the land, which would later be transformed into both The Wolf Creek Golf Resort and The Wolf Creek RV Resort.

Brief Timeline From 1940's to Now At Wolf Creek

Snapshot Of Wolf Creek's Cowboy History

Back in the late 1940's Harry Vold, a famous central Alberta cowboy and North American rodeo legend, bought the land where the golf course and RV resort now stands. Harry used the property to run his rodeo stock. The land was basically all sand with very sparse grass on dunes. Many of the famous bulls and horses that became part of the Harry Vold Rodeo Company started and ended their lives on this very property.

1981 Ralph Vold bought back most of this land from his brother Harry with a combination of cattle and cash in a complicated land deal that saw Harry receive land for a ranch in

Colorado in exchange for some of this property. The purpose of the purchase was to build

a golf course on sandy dunes land, which was very reminiscent of Old World Golf.

1982 Rod Whitman is commissioned as the architect to create Wolf Creek. This would be Rod's first design on his own. The original routing was done on the back of a napkin and all the holes were measured out in steps.

1983 Clubhouse construction begins. The Vold Family decide to build an old-style, rustic log clubhouse. The building would be over 20,000 sq. ft and was considered one the largest hand carved log buildings of its time. Ralph Vold, in typical western-fashion, traded 200 bred cows to complete the development of the building.

2019 The Wolf Creek RV Resort was completely upgraded in 2019 and is now a thoroughly modern RV resort facility. All new 50-amp power, water and sewer infrastructure was installed during the 2019 camping season. A new sandy beach-zone at our man-made lake is part of our RV resort's 2020 transformation. We're looking forward to seeing more RVers take advantage of the generous-sized RV resort lots and our new price structure.

The Vold family continues to be the sole owners and operators of Wolf Creek having just completed the major resort-wide upgrades in 2019. All inquiries should be directed to our administration - contacts are below.
